5 Must-See Museums for International Museum Day

Local museums you MUST experience in Butler County!

International Museum Day is celebrated every year in May. It was first created in 1977 to allow museums to promote their role in the community, and educate people on how important it is to visit and support museums. Want to mosey around some cool local museums? Check out our list below! 

1. Ancient Sculpture Museum at Pyramid Hill 

WHERE: 1763 Hamilton Cleves Road | Hamilton, Ohio 

Adam's First Breath

The Museum of Ancient Sculpture at Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park in Hamilton is the only known museum of its kind in the world. The attraction features four galleries in a 10,000 sq. ft. museum that displays Greek, Roman, Etruscan, Syrian and Egyptian Sculpture dating to 1550 B.C. The Museum Gallery holds changing exhibitions of local, regional and national artists in addition to their Founder's Library that includes a visual history of the park.

2. Butler County Warbirds Museum

The Butler County Warbirds Museum in Middletown preserves historic aircrafts in their unique Middletown Hangar. Marvel at both temporary and permanent displays that emphasize the wonder and history of flight. The BC Warbirds Museum is on the new Ohio Air & Space Trail!

3. Richard + Carole Cocks Art Museum

WHERE: 801 S Patterson Avenue | Oxford, Ohio

Richard & Carole Cocks Art Museum at Miami University

Located at the southern edge of Miami University in Oxford, this art museum features five ever-changing galleries and more than 10,000 objects in the permanent collection. The museum, designed by world-renowned architect Walter Netsch, has received national and international reviews. The outdoor sculpture park is a continuous work-in-progress with new sculptures always being added.

4. National Voice of America Museum of Broadcasting

WHERE: 8070 Tylersville Road | West Chester, Ohio

VOA Museum

The former home of the Voice of America Bethany Station now features displays relating to the history of the Voice of America; broadcast history in the region; the development of radio technology; and on-going amateur radio communications. First operational in 1944, the Voice of America Bethany Station once housed advanced radio communication technology known to the world, allowing for the broadcast news and entertainment to countries around the world.
