Swing 365

I’m a golf fanatic. I love to hit a new course, and enjoy the pursuit of the perfect swing. The only trouble is that a bad storm or swealtering weather can ruin a good round. Recently, I heard about Swing 365, a new indoor interactive golf simulator and restaurant in West Chester. Perfect solution! I set out with my friend to give it a try.

The simulator is extremely advanced, but easy to play even for novice golfers. The system takes players to famous golf courses and settings around the world including places like the old course at St. Andrews and beautiful Pebble Beach. Players hit balls into an interactive screen to simulate play. Games include weather, realistic boundaries, hazards, and surroundings just like actual courses. Each course is rated by level, from easy to difficult, so players can chose the option that best fits their skills.

After a few practice swings, we chose to play a round at St. Andrews. This is where I realized how accurate and real the simulator really was. While a new golfer can have a great time, it doesn’t mean you can shoot a par on a world-renowned course right away.

After a couple holes of historic golf, we decided to switch to different games. We began with a 50-yard glass smash. You are set 50 yards out from a building and shoot your balls into windows, receiving points for each pane of glass you smash.  Difficult, dangerous, and illegal in real life, but so fun in simulation!

Next, darts. Featuring many classic dart games, we chose to play the traditional 301. Each player gets three ‘darts’ and each ball you hit strikes the board with a dart just like you were throwing it.

We finished with mini-putt. I placed my ball on a small white dot, ten feet out from the screen, and putt into the screen. If your lay is less than 10 feet, it tracks how far it travels on the ground. If it is longer than ten feet, it uses the force and direction of the ball just like it does with driving. Very clever.
