Shandon is home to the communities' most beloved holiday celebration: Christmas in the Country.
This year's Annual Old-Fashioned Christmas in the Country event is November 29-30, 2014 and features a variety of family friendly holiday activities.
Christmas in the Country is Shandon's biggest event of the year, taking place the Saturday and Sunday after Thanksgiving, and offers guests an assortment of fun activities to choose from. Enjoy home-cooked food, signature Welsh cakes, arts and crafts, and a wide selection of beautiful antiques, gifts, and furniture housed inside the St. Aloysius Church and the Shandon Congregational Church community houses.
Bring the whole family! Christmas in the Country will offer exciting kid's entertainment activities like story telling, and free horse-drawn carriage rides. Meet Santa Claus in the Old Fire House from 11-3 on Saturday and from 1-3 on Sunday.
Stroll through the Old Welsh Cemetery, take a ride on the trolley, warm up with some home-made food, and enjoy in the sounds of live traditional Welsh harp music.
The Morgan Township Historical Society Museum on Okeana Drewersburg Road in Okeana will be open from noon to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
On Saturday, a stunning antique train locomotive display will be available for viewing. Christmas in the Country is free and open to the public.
