Each year Butler County is home to hundreds of exciting community events and festivals. Everything from car shows and hot air balloon festivals to a festival all about strawberries and a hilarious cardboard boat race, The BC always has a great community event happening that's perfect for you and your family.

What better way to celebrate the snow and ice than with a chilly carving competition, IceFest, held bi-annually in mid January in downtown Hamilton. The City of Sculpture hosts this weeklong ice carving competition featuring over 40 tons of ice crafted into stunning ice sculptures by Olympic, international, and local ice carvers.

Oxford Wine Festival
Sample fine wines from the across the world while browsing for works of art by local and regional artisans during this annual wine celebration held in May. The event, sponsored by the Oxford Chamber of Commerce, includes live music, culinary demonstrations and a beer garden.

Strawberry Festival
Everyone loves strawberries, right? Well, the community of Shandon sure does. Each year in June, Shandon celebrates everything strawberry with the Annual Old Fashioned Strawberry Festival featuring Welsh traditions, an antique tractor show, delicious strawberry snacks, and more.

Crazy Cardboard Regatta
Be prepared to laugh until you cry during The BC's wackiest summer festival, the Crazy Cardboard Regatta. The regatta is a people powered boat race on the lake at Voice of America MetroPark in early July, where the boats are made entirely out of cardboard!

Annual Antique and Classic Car Parade
The Butler County Antique and Classic Car Club hosts the Annual Jerry E. Moore Memorial Antique and Classic Car Parade in early July in Hamilton. The parade showcases nearly 300 classic cars and features a car parade throughout Hamilton and Fairfield, a live musical celebration, awards, and more.

Butler County Fair
Nothing says summer like the arrival of county fairs all across Ohio's eighty-eight counties. The Butler County Fair is the counties biggest festival and attracts nearly 100,000 guests in late July, including some 1400 Junior Fair members. The fair boasts rides, games, livestock exhibits, and everyone's favorite...fair food!

Ohio Challenge Hot Air Balloon Festival
The Ohio Challenge Hot Air Balloon Festival returns to Middletown's Smith Park each July as one of Butler County's most unique festivals. The family fun festival features over 35 colorful hot air balloons, a laser show, kids activities, fireworks, and more.

Cruise In on the Green
In early September, classic and antique cars draw hundreds of people to Village Green Park in Fairfield for a day full of antique car fun. This festival features live music, a showcase of local classics, awards, and more. This is an idea event for the automobile enthusiast in your family.

Art Fair
Settled in the quaint town of Hamilton, Ohio, Pyramid Hill is a beautiful 265-acre sculpture park and outdoor museum that is home to momentous sculptures created by local and national artists. Each year in late September, Pyramid Hill invites artists from around the country to showcase their creations during the popular Art Fair showcase event. Art Fair draws up to 100 skilled artisans selling hundreds of unique handmade creations ranging from metal work to mixed medium paintings.

Operation Pumpkin
In early October in Butler County, fall is in full swing and it's time to start celebrating the most popular produce of the season: the pumpkin! Operation Pumpkin, Hamilton's pumpkin and art festival held in historic downtown Hamilton celebrates all things pumpkin and features a giant pumpkin weight-off, pumpkin catapults that launch pumpkins toward targets stationed on the Great Miami River, painted pumpkins, a regatta race, and more!

Sports Events

Shamrock Shuffle
Celebrate community, wellness, and St. Patrick's Day by participating in the annual Shamrock Shuffle 5K & 10K races. The Shamrock Shuffle, head each year in March, includes a block party complete with live music and a beer garden, a kids Leprechaun Lap, and more, all in benefit of a variety of local charities.

Holiday Events

Christmas in the Country
Experience Ohio's first Welsh settlement during the annual Christmas in the Country event in Shandon in late November. This old-fashioned Christmas celebration includes home-cooked food, arts and crafts, antiques, Santa Clause, and a unique vintage trolley.

Oxford Holiday Festival
Celebrate the Christmas magic with your family at Uptown Oxford in late November. Enjoy a winter wonderland full of family friendly activities including horse drawn carriage rides, Santa Claus, live reindeer, kids activities, and a Christmas tree sale.

Holiday Lights on the Hill
Tour this award winning holiday lights display at one of the areas most unique parks, Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park & Museum in Hamilton. This winter wonderland of lights features 12-foot candy canes, light tunnels, and over two million lights! The light display runs from mid November through the end of December.

Light Up Middletown
Tour the season's sparkling fantasyland of lights featuring a floating sea serpent, Santa's workshop, a penguin village, and more at Middletown's Smith Park. Don't miss out on the popular annual hot air balloon glow! This admission by donation light show runs from late November through the end of December.
