Think Local & Shop Small!

Shopping and supporting small business is not only great for the local community but for the economy as well. Many small business owners are truly passionate about their missions and love seeing support not only from their community, but new visitors too! There are a ton of advantages to shopping local... one advantage being you're more likely to find unique items that you can't purchase everywhere. With Spring right around the corner, now is the time to starting shopping for new Spring clothes, beauty products and home decor. Butler County is home to some pretty amazing small businesses and boutiques with items you won't find anywhere else.

But if you're like me and love to do your retail therapy online, you're in luck— ALL six of these businesses below have an online store. So, if you're looking to stand out (and want to make a difference) start your Spring shopping with these six local shops

1. Sara's House

Sara's House in Hamilton is full of one-of-a-kind finds. This gorgeous boutique specializes in original, unique and repurposed gifts. From clothing to shoes, home decor and vintage gifts, you're always bound to find something special. The owner Sara and her family play a big part in finding vintage items and giving them new life, as well as curating their other products to help support other local businesses and ensure that everything they sell is a great find and a memorable gift.

One of my personal favorite brands that Sara's House carries is ABLE — a lifestyle brand focused on ending generational poverty through providing economic opportunity for women.

Not only does it serve a great mission, but the products are awesome. I love these cheetah print sandals for Spring, and these ABLE leather clutches are a perfect accessory. Sara always has a variety of these 100% leather totes, clutches and bags in stock both in store and online

I also recommend shopping Sara's Picks online where you can shop some of her personal favorite items. You can also check out her other online collections, including one-of-a-kind lamps that her husband creates out of old items like vintage cameras, baseball trophies, and more... they're seriously so cool!

2. Miller St. Boutique

Miller St. Boutique in Fairfield is a fun and trendy shop with a ton of options. All of their products— clothing, accessories, gifts, florals, home decor, and more— are hand-picked by the owners Stephanie and Tara. The two best friends founded the boutique together to share their passion for women’s fashion, vintage-inspired style, and coincidentally, the same maiden name!

Whether you're shopping online or in person with Miller St. Boutique, you’ll find a wide selection of carefully chosen women’s fashion that are both stylish and timeless. They're inventory is always evolving, and I love their new Spring additions.

One of my favorites is this Bell Sleeve Embroidered Dress— available in store and online! I love the detail not only in the embroidery but on the sleeves as well. It's the perfect dress to transition out of Winter and to welcome Spring. They also have a huge collection of graphic tees that are incredibly soft and on trend for this season.

Miller St Flower Bar

Alongside their clothing and accessories, Miller St. is welcoming Spring in other ways too. I love their Flower Bar where you can create and purchase your own faux flower bouquet for your home. They offer a collection of farm-style and vintage vases to put them in, as well as other home decor items

3. Celebrate Local

Celebrate Local in the Liberty Center says it all in the name! Here you'll find some of the best Ohio-produced handmade and artisanal goods from over 300 Ohio small businesses. You can get anything from local art, t-shirts, home goods, or even Ohio wines and crafted beers. It can be hard to choose between all they have to offer.

Personally, I love checking out their t-shirts. Whether you're in Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland, or just an Ohioan in general, they have some really cool t-shirts that are all produced right here in Ohio.

From sport teams, to hometown pride, to vintage designs, the t-shirts are all unique. I for one, love the vintage designs, but there is always a large variety whether you're in store or shopping online

I also recommend taking a look at everything else they have to offer— you can get a sneak peak on their website. And the best part is you know you're supporting Ohio businesses, local artists and a local community!

4. Wildfire Home & Gift

Wildfire Home & Gift in Hamilton is one of my favorite places to get a motivational boost and shop for accessories. This boutique is best described as boho chic, with a refreshing and calm atmosphere. A lot of the products sold have inspirational quotes on them from people like Maya Angelou, Robin Williams, and Stevie Nicks.

You can find anything from locally made candles, to leather bound notebooks, wall tapestries, or my favorite... accessories. The owner Sarah has great taste in earrings, necklaces, bracelets and more. If you're looking for the perfect Spring accessories, here they are.

I am in love with these new Statement Earrings available online— each pair is unique and they are all handmade locally by Katelyn of Abundant Life Co. in Ohio. Another popular item is the Prayer Locket Necklace that is made from raw brass and stamped with a sweet daily reminder.

Wildfire offers way more than accessories though, so I urge you to check out her entire online store. The inventory is always being updated so new products are added to their website all the time. Especially if you need a pick-me-up... I love her inspirational products. Check out another one of my favorite items here

5. Rose & Remington

Rose & Remington in The Liberty Center is a great place to expand your wardrobe, especially with all of their new items ready for this season. Find the newest fashion trends, comfortable styles, chic accessories, eclectic gifts and contemporary or modern home goods.

It's always helpful to take a look at their Instagram too to see their newest arrivals and get some style inspiration. You can easily piece together outfits with help from their mannequin photos!

6. LahVdah Skincare + More

LahVdah Skincare + More in Hamilton is your one stop shop for all-natural, organic beauty and skincare products. The owner Venita creates all of her products herself to ensure they are made with love and care. Her online store carries all of her best products like her all-natural lotions, makeup, bath bombs, candles and more.

Each Spring she also makes limited edition Baseball Bath Bombs, inspired by her son who plays college baseball.

Venita has been able to help so many people, especially those with allergies and sensitive skin, to feel beautiful with LahVdah's products. Many of Venita's customers come to her with acne issues, allergies, and even radiation burns. The healing powers of argan oil along with other natural ingredients in LahVdah products have helped numerous people.

Venita also makes her own Laundry Detergent and Softener  that is made with plant based ingredients and essential oil blends by Alma Apothecary and avoids all of the chemicals in ordinary laundry detergents. She makes a few different scents, but Lavender or Sean's Heavenly Scent are my favorites for Spring!
