Smith Library of Regional History

Start off your tour with an introduction to Oxford's Underground Railroad history. In 2013, this museum was accepted into the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom. Sponsored by the National Park Service, the Network to Freedom coordinates preservation and education efforts, and integrates local historical places, museums, and interpretive programs associated with the Underground Railroad into a mosaic of community, regional, and national stories.

Soldiers, Sailors, and Pioneers Monument

This Butler County monument stands proudly at the 1790s site of Fort Hamilton, along the banks of the Great Miami River. This monument honors those who have fought and served for our country, as well as those who first settled in Butler County. Notable features of the monument are the gorgeous stained glass windows and two large displays honoring the service of the men and women during the Civil War. On the temple dome stands a 17 foot, 3500 pound bronze statue created by Rudolph Theim, titled "Victory", representing a Civil War private "Billy Yank", raising his cap in celebration of victory in the 4 year war.

National Voice of America Museum of Broadcasting

The former home of the Voice of America Bethany Station now features displays relating to the history of the Voice of America; broadcast history in the region; the development of radio technology; and on-going amateur radio communications. First operational in 1944, the Voice of America Bethany Station once housed advanced radio communication technology known to the world, allowing for the broadcast news and entertainment to countries around the world.
