In addition to Middletown, Hamilton, known as the City of Sculpture, has an amazing arts reputation featuring unique sculptures sprinkled throughout the community. One trip to the Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park and Museum is all it takes for your artistic side to be permanently inspired! This 240-acre park features magnificent outdoor works of sculpture art, serene ponds and beautiful wildlife. This family-friendly attraction displays over 90 G-scale trains riding over two miles of track, along with the American Railroading Museum! After a day at EnterTRAINment Junction, spend time on the lake at Wake Nation. Wake Nation is the only cable wakeboarding park in the region, and provides guests with all the equipment needed for a day of water sports thrills.

History

Butler County is rich with historical landmarks, sculptures, museums and community districts. Middletown lies on the former route of the Miami-Erie Canal and showcases displays of the canal and early industry of Middletown. The Soldiers, Sailors and Pioneers Monument in Hamilton sits on the site of Fort Hamilton and prominently displays a17-foot Civil War solider proclaiming victory on the top of this monumental structure. In Oxford, the Freedom Summer 1964 Memorial, on the Western College Historic District of Miami University, commemorates the civil rights workers who were trained at Miami University in 1964. Enjoy the Presidential Pathways Scenic Byway, a 47-mile byway traveling from the Ohio River area to Hueston Woods State Park tracing the lives of two presidents from Southwestern Ohio, William Henry Harrison and Benjamin Harrison.
